History
In 1873, Wheatland Mutual began as German Mutual. In October 1924, the business that insured farm equipment and animals became American Mutual and the part of the business insuring home and farm buildings was known as Farmers Mutual. In 1964, the two separate areas of the business were combined under Wheatland Mutual; insuring farms, homes and providing liability coverage.

A Few Notes
Wheatland Mutual is one of the oldest businesses in Wheatland. We are owned by the insureds and each year in March owners are invited to an annual meeting where they are updated on the company's financial status and elect directors. Wheatland Mutual still keeps books manually and hand-types all policies with an in-house adjuster. Our best selling point is that we lock our rates in for three years and don't raise rates due to a loss.
